Neighbourhood Renewal

The DSD Neighbourhood Renewal Programme which was introduced in 2004 targets 36 of the most disadvantaged areas in Northern Ireland.

The central aim of the ‘People and Place’ Strategy has been to support different departments and their local agencies to integrate their programmes more effectively through the development of innovative and cross-cutting initiatives that involve other key partners - particularly the community.

East Belfast contains two designated Neighbourhood Renewal areas:

• Inner East Belfast Partnership
• Tullycarnet Neighbourhood Partnership

Both Partnerships have developed action plans based on the 4 strategic objectives:

• Community Renewal
• Economic Renewal
• Social Renewal 
• Physical Renewal

EBP is supporting the Neighbourhood Partnerships to implement their action plans.
