Huge Congratulations to Team East 5 who braved the rain on May Day and successfully completed the relay marathon in 4hrs 26 min and Conal Stewart who successfully ran the entire 26 miles in 3hrs 29 mins. Team East 5 were running for East Belfast Community Counselling (EBCC). EBCC provide counselling irrespective of the ability to pay.
Several East Belfast Partnership staff members are taking part in the the 31st Belfast City Marathon on Monday the 7th of May.
They are part of 'Team East 5' who are a cross-organisational team that are running in both the five-leg relay and full marathon races. Cailin Hardy and Sarah Douglas are in the relay team along with DUP Councillor John Hussey, East Belfast Alliance MLA Chris Lyttle, and Glentoran FC's Community Manager Russell Lever. Along side the main team Conal Stewart is running the full marathon.

The team are to raising funds and communitty support for the work of East Belfast Community Counselling who are based at Bloomfield Avenue. East Belfast Community Counselling CIC was created in 2011 to fulfil a need in the community, providing a vitally needed service. They offer access to high quality counselling irrespective of the ability to pay. EBCC is a CIC which means they work for the benefit of the community and not private advantage. This is a much welcomed service in addition to a range of targetted community counselling services that operate in East Belfast.
Unfortunately we cannot comment further on the BBC news story which you may have seen yesterday regarding the Connswater Community Greenway project.
Belfast City Council is still involved in a legal process with the contractor and is not in a position to comment in detail with regard to the outcome of the independent conciliation report. We and Belfast City Council hope that there will be a speedy conclusion to enable the CCG to be completed as soon as possible.
