EastSide Arts Festival closes for another year

The EastSide Arts Festival 2016 closed on 21st August, following 11 days of fantastic events across east Belfast. EastSide Arts are delighted with the feedback received from the events. Especially well received were the Anúna concert in St Patrick’s, Ballymacarrett, the Nick Lowe concert in Willowfield Church and the two sell out events in Park Avenue Hotel- Kaz Hawkins Band and 1916 Tim McGarry “Goes Over The Top”.

The festival utilised as many spaces as possible in the community- a brewery, the Dundonald International Ice Bowl, churches, cafes, social clubs and community centres. Other unusual venues were folds and care homes which opened their doors to performers. A number of artists gave their time to entertain older members of our community without them having to leave their residences. It was a lovely initiative and one that organisers hope to repeat in the future.

Final audience figures are still to be calculated but organisers believe it has been a very successful year.

EastSide Arts would like to thank the funders, sponsors, artists, venues, partners, volunteers and audience members who once again showed dedication and commitment to the festival.
