East Belfast Strategic Regeneration Framework

As apart of the Renewing Communities initiative we produced a Strategic Regeneration Framework for East Belfast in 2008.

The Framework was based on a development model with these key principles:

It would

• Be sensitive to an area’s key issues
• Envision what East Belfast could be within the 21st Century City
• Establish a methodology for identifying/prioritising key actions
• Be open to engagement with East Belfast residents in both the production & implementation of the strategy
• Align with key developments such as new physical investment in the East and development programmes for the whole city
• Be sufficiently flexible to adapt to changing circumstance and new opportunities

The East Belfast SRF continues to allow us to assess and prioritise regeneration programmes based on their potential to offer long term benefits to the community.

It is being referenced both across Government and by Belfast City Council, alongside the SRF’s produced by our colleagues in the other Belfast Area Partnerships, to help inform future policy development.
